What Avatar: Seven Havens is
Avatar: Seven Havens is a 2D-animated sequel to Avatar: The Last Airbender and The Legend of Korra, created by the original duo Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko and produced by Avatar Studios with Nickelodeon Animation Studio. It is the first series from Avatar Studios. Book 1: Survival premiered on Paramount+ on October 9, 2026 and completed its 13-episode release on October 30.
The premise: a worldwide catastrophe the show calls the Cataclysm turned most of the planet into the Harshlands. The survivors live in seven walled havens, and history blames the last known Avatar, Korra, for the disaster. So when nine-year-old Pavi turns out to be the next Avatar, nobody cheers. She, her long-lost twin Nisha and the airbender Jae have to figure out who they are while the haven city of Ellora decides whether an Avatar is worth protecting.
The story so far
Spoilers below. The opening recap covers episodes 1–6; the new-batch overview uses Paramount+'s episode synopses.
Pavi is caught earthbending at an Ellora festival, flees into the Harshlands and airbends to save Jae, which outs her as the Avatar. She meets Nisha, learns they are twins, and both girls are hit by a strange entity in a sandstorm. Karthik, a White Lotus master, takes command of the city and trains them. Masked raiders called the Faceless attack the grain stores and kidnap a girl named Uki. Anti-Avatar slogans spread through Ellora, the twins find a vault of old-world artefacts in Karthik's office, and in episode 6 red crystals start growing where the entity struck them while Ellorans fall into fits of terror. Pavi also learns her leg was amputated, not missing from birth, and gets a prosthetic.

Quick answers
- Is there technology in Seven Havens?
- Yes, but deliberately less than in Korra's era. DiMartino says there was "a big tech boom during Korra's time" and the new show is "more fantasy-based and not too sci-fi". Radios, a vault of old-world artefacts and a prosthetic leg have appeared so far. Technology, explained →
- Did Korra destroy the world?
- The early episodes blame Korra for the Cataclysm, which explains why the Avatar is hated. Our Korra guide separates that accusation from confirmed facts through episode 6.
- Who is Pavi?
- A nine-year-old earthbender and the new Avatar, voiced by Saheli Khan. Her twin Nisha can bend all four elements too. Pavi →
- What is the lullaby in Seven Havens?
- The twins’ mother’s melody is known in fan uploads as Kiran’s Lullaby. Check lyric sources or watch the duet and tutorial →
- How many episodes are there?
- Thirteen in Book 1, released October 9, 16, 23 and 30, 2026. Book 2 (13 episodes) was ordered with it, and Books 3 and 4 were announced at New York Comic Con on October 9.
- Do I need to watch Korra first?
- No. The show explains itself, but Books 2 and 4 of Korra make the references land. Recap, watch order and where to stream →
- Where can I watch it?
- Paramount+ only, in the US and in the countries where Paramount+ operates. There is no Nickelodeon TV airing announced.
Reviews
Critics have been unusually kind. On Rotten Tomatoes the series holds a 100% score from 21 reviews with a 7.9/10 average, and Metacritic scores it 80/100 from 11 critics (both checked October 17, 2026). The consensus praises the storytelling, the look and the new characters; the main complaint from fans is simply that the drip-feed release makes it hard to binge.
