What happens at the end of episode 6?

Pavi and Nisha face the red energy anomaly again. A shared memory of their parents precedes the twins dispelling it through energybending. The scene introduces an ability beyond the four familiar elements.

Episode 6, Night of the Afflicted, was released on October 16 with episodes 4 and 5. The next batch arrives a week later, so the ending leaves several questions unresolved between releases.

What did the creators confirm about energybending?

In the GamesRadar+ interview, Michael Dante DiMartino says energybending matters to the twins' continuing story. Sehaj Sethi connects it with spirit energy. The creators also clarify that both sisters can bend all four elements without having mastered them.

That separates three ideas: being able to use an element, mastering it through training, and working with energy itself. The reveal adds to the twins' abilities; it does not supply a complete explanation of their origins.

What does the ending leave unanswered?

What is the red anomaly?
Its identity and origin remain unresolved. The spirit-energy connection gives a line of inquiry, rather than a confirmed name or motive.
Why can there be two Avatars?
The twins' shared abilities do not yet explain how the Avatar cycle accommodates both of them. A split Avatar Spirit remains a theory, not an established answer.
Does this explain the Cataclysm?
No complete causal account has been confirmed. Keep the world's accusations against Korra separate from proof of what happened. Korra and the Cataclysm →
Do the episode 7–9 titles reveal the answers?
Titles alone do not establish a plot. Our next-batch guide lists confirmed information without presenting predictions as recaps.

Which earlier Avatar scenes help?

Energybending predates the twins. Aang's confrontation with Ozai is useful context for how a conflict can be resolved through bending energy. Wan and Raava's story adds context for the Avatar's relationship with spirits.
